Suitcase or Foldable panel?

We seem to have two basic design ideas; a "suitcase" Efika Portable, which has a handle in the top and is a fully integrated display solution with a fairly large display. Another idea for the portable Efika, one I ran to after I couldn't work out the design details of an integrated panel, is to NOT have an integrated panel but instead one which is simply attached/hinged;

The panel would fold back on to the top of the case, the case is also the LCD stand, and it's more sturdy than a stand out of the back. This may actually be an easier prototype to design for, and look just as good at all the Freescale shows. We can use the blackbox thin client case and just modify it for hinges, and make a black panel box. This limits our panel size to the top of the case size though which is... about an 8", 9" panel including border?

Like a reversed version of those portable DVD players, the base would act as the stand, but the screen would not be at the "back" of the case with the case spanning out the front like a laptop (since there is nothing but black metal there). This poses a problem with protecting the screen but this is a carry pack issue and not a system issue I think (glass on the screen and a foam padded leather bag)
